Rondout Valley Food Pantry (RVFP) will host its holiday food and fund drive in partnership with MyTown Marketplace, 10 a.m-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the marketplace, 3853 Main St., Stone Ridge. The event is being held to support the Pantry’s holiday programs and food basket distribution available to families facing food insecurity in the Rondout Valley School District.
Supporting a variety of programs, community members can access nutrition through their weekly General Distribution and the Holiday Basket Programs. RVFP offers specific programs geared towards kids and teens, providing nutritious groceries to kids through the Summer Breakfast & Lunch program, Weekend Backpack Program and the RVHS Pantry Closet. With everyday expenses on the rise, RVFP has seen consistent and high demand for assistance. The Rondout Valley Food Pantry is calling on local residents, businesses, and community members to come together and help restock empty shelves and prepare for a big holiday basket distribution this season with nutritious, non-perishable food items.
Organizers are asking for donations of healthy, non-perishable, and unexpired food items. Shop for groceries at MyTown Marketplace in Stone Ridge and pick up a couple of extra items to drop on site for the fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 24. The most needed items include peanut butter and nut butters; canned tuna, chicken, and beans; canned vegetables and fruits; dry pasta, rice, and oats; and canned soups and stews.
