The 27th Annual Rosendale International Pickle Festival is 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Ulster County Fairgrounds, 249 Libertyville Road, New Paltz. This year is bigger and better than ever before, boasting over 150 vendors selling pickles, food, baked goods, groceries, artisanal crafts, and public services. It is $5 per person, cash only, and kids under 12 are free. ATM’s are available with a service charge of $4.95.
Visitors and vendors can enter a Pickling Contest for both professional and amateurs with ribbon prizes. This year’s categories are Dill Pickles, Sweet Pickles, Professional Pickles, Pickled Fruit, Pickled Root Vegetables, Pickled Mixed Vegetables, and Pickled Vegetables-Single. Entries should be in by 11 a.m. The Pickle Triathlon, scheduled in the afternoon, hosts a pickle eating and drinking contest for both adult and kid’s divisions and a pickle tossing contest. There is live entertainment on the main stage featuring Lara Hope’s Gold Hope Duo, Rosendale Improvement Association Brass Band and Social Club, Rosendale Ukulele Group, Rainbow the Magical Clown, and much more.
