Wyatt Edward Haynes Sr., of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Sunday, August 24. He was 68 years old.
Wyatt was born in Kingston, NY, on September 29, 1956, the second son of Lydia Patmore Haynes and William S. “Bill” Haynes Jr. After graduating from Rondout Valley High School in 1975, Wyatt welcomed his son, Wyatt Jr., in November.
“Old Man,” to those who knew him best, traveled between New York and Florida for most of his life. A roofer by trade, he enjoyed music – especially oldies. He also loved fishing, classic western films, bicycle riding, and football – he was a lifelong New York Giants fan and a Miami Dolphins fan for decades. His favorite pastime, however, was spending time with family and friends.
Wyatt is survived by his son and daughter-in law, Wyatt and Bridgette Haynes, of Jacksonville, Florida, along with beloved grandaughters Bailey Marie and Madison Taylor, grandson Josh (Kelsey) Scheibelhut, and great-grandchildren Lilly and Rayden Stebbins and Noah Landsdowne. He is also survived by siblings Roni and Mark Usvolk of Stone Ridge, George Haynes and Chester Weng of Stone Ridge, Jodi Haynes of Stone Ridge, Wesley Haynes and Suzanne Miedema of Kerhonkson, Wayne and Heidi Haynes of Marbletown, and Leslie and Stephanie Haynes of Bear, Delaware. He was preceded in death by his brother and best friend, William S. “Billy” Haynes III, as well as his parents, Lydia and Bill.
A celebration of Wyatt’s life will be scheduled at a later date.
